Safety Officer (Oil Mines exp.)

Education and Relevant Experience:

• Minimum Eight years of experience in management or supervision in oil mines in case of diploma in engineering and degree in science.

• Minimum five years of experience in management or supervision in oil mines in case of degree in engineering or degree in industrial safety or post graduate diploma in industrial safety.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Mines Act 1952, Mine Rules 1955, MVT Rules 1966, Oil Mines Regulations 2017, OISD standards, HSE management systems

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, ISM, ISPS standards and is preferred.

• Aware of Vedanta HSE standardsHSE Responsibilities HSE Responsibilities:
  

• Identifying hazards at the worksite and helping to control or ALARP as much as possible.

• Conducting site inspections regularly to check unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and compliance with safety procedures.

• Preparing and reviewing HIRA, JSA, SOP, Safety Procedures and Work Permits before starting any job.

• Ensuring PTW system compliance for all high-risk activities like hot work, confined space, electrical jobs, lifting operations, etc.

• Monitoring critical operations such as well activities, production operations, chemical handling, and equipment movement.

• Conducting toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety trainings for workers and contractors.

• Responding to emergencies and coordinating with the medical team, fire team, and nearby hospital.

• Maintaining emergency equipment like firefighting systems, SCBA, first-aid kits, and ensuring they are inspected and ready for use.

• Reporting incidents and near-misses, conducting preliminary investigations, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
